My Year In Hard Dance

Alex Kidd

Alex Kidd

What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?

As always there is so many to choose from. Showtek's FTS really captured the twisted spirits and nasty souls of all the real ravers who want their beats served up filthy...also on the tech trance side tracks like JOOP - on top of things is about as emotional as it gets. Some huge hardstyle tracks ive been pushing all year have been responsible for converting a lot of clubbers, tracks like "Duro - Old Skool Phenomenon" and my re-edit of "Sisma - Protekt your Panther" have been ridiculously big Kidd anthems over the last 12 months

What has been your biggest achievement of the year?

Again too many to mention. Being on the line up for all the big festivals in the UK and beyond was really special and springs to mind because it has been something ive worked towards for many years. Doing a guest mix on Eddie Halliwell's BBC Radio 1 show was a good feeling, because im the only hard dance artist that has been on his show for a mix. Playing 2nd to last set at the outdoor stage of Dance Valley before Yoji in the summer was an unreal moment in my life. Of course the best things though has been staging Kiddfields and pulling off Kiddstock. Both were amazing in terms of pushing the boundaries and setting a new pace in the scene for myself. Bring on 08 baby!

What moments in the last year will you always remember?

Standing on top of a wheelie bin outside the chalet at TW11 as the hardstlye was pumping and a sea of heads went ballistic. At Kiddstock ill always remember the mixer in the main room breaking minutes before we were letting everyone through the gates, the butterflies were in full force and I had to take myself away and calm myself down, last minute panics are good though. Obviously there are tons of stand out gigs but Stage diving at Hard Kandy in Melbourne for the Masif tour was something ill remember! Planet Love in Belfast was also another top class gig, the crowd was just insane and I cant wait to get back there.

What exciting things do you have planned for next year?

The launch of my label and brand KIDDFECTIOUS, it will release some of the most head wrecking and speaker thrashing beats this side of the desert. It will showcase some of the finest artists and leaders in the styles that I play alongside the freshest and most advanced raw blood that’s doing the damage right now. There will of course be a lot of my own projects and productions on the label, new collaborations, bootlegs, remixes and solo EP's so it's a really exciting time in AKHQ at the moment.

The next big concept we have been working on is the label launch party. Goodgreef and Kiddfectious will go head to head in Manchester to celebrate the launch of the label with a handpicked sterling line up of some of my favourite DJ's on the circuit. Myself and Kutski will be supporting 2 very special guest Lisa Pin Up and Luna (Holland) in what guarantees to be a roof raising affair.

Also we have been all keeping plans hush hush for the future of "Kiddstock" but I can tell you now that KIDDSTOCK 08 is going to blow everyone's minds. It really will smash peoples preconceptions to smithereens. Extra special plans are bubbling away in the pipeline, so keep your eyes and ears open for some sneaky gossip to be released over the next few weeks.
