Ben Bennett - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

2009 has been a massive year, not only due to signing some stunning music to Impact, but being signed to the DiabloTraxx artist management alongside the likes of Dave Joy and Adrenaline Dept. Also making my main room debut at Storm was pretty epic!

What moments will you never forget?

Every year I work with loads of incredibly talented people through the label, through events i've run and parties i've played at, and the best bit is always enjoying the music we have made, played and partied to. It's the best industry to be involved in.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

Trevor Dans has done very well for himself this year, and is getting better and better with every track he makes. Alex Mac & Zeebra Kid are also being talked about quite a lot and are flooding the charts with their music, but the one that has really caught my eye is the delightful April. She has excelled herself this year and i hope 2010 continues the way 2009 has gone for her!

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

Adrenaline Dept without a doubt. I brought him in to Impact as our new in-house producer and he has been on top form all year with great releases not just on our label but with other giants such as Riot! A great year for him!

What's been your favourite label of the year?

If I was the type to do shameless plugs, I would say Impact Recordings, but i'm not ;) It has to be newcomers Electrik Shandy. Hopefully they will be around for a long time!

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

'Damage Effect' by Pero on Electrik Shandy Recordings.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

I've been all over the place this year, and the best big event for me was HHA, and smaller ones that have been brilliant are AWsum Xmas and one of the many Puzzle Projects!

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

I was playing at the Custard Factory earlier in the year and the clocks changed, so I left early as I had to get a bus back to London. I passed out in the bus station then ended up chasing my bus down the road before I could get home. It wasn't funny at the time, but if it had happened to anyone else I would have been pi**ing myself laughing at the state of a drunk DJ chasing a bus out of the car park. lol

What do you have planned for the next year?

More of the same but better! Release more tracks, play more gigs and meet more people! 2010 has endless possibilities :) I'm also NEVER getting the National Express anywhere ever again! lol
