What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?
Its been an exciting year for hard dance from my point of view, so many new producers coming through and some really exciting varied styles coming from the longer standing producers, who are perhaps experimenting a bit more which is a good thing for all! The track that stands out from all of the ones that I've heard this year and really represents what Hard Dance is about, is SQ's remix of James Jaye's 'Real High' which we released on Impact in November. Its fresh, its original, its powerful which is what it's all about!
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Its been a manic year for me with gigs up and down the country, a couple of releases and a good few new productions, but the key thing for me this year was taking charge at Impact Recordings. Phil Reynolds & Steve Blake were kind enough to ask me on board to run this institution of a UK Hard Trance Label. I've been buying Impact releases since it was first launched in 2002, so to finally head it up is a real honour!
What moments in the last year will you always remember?
The whole year has been immense! From raising my profile out of London, to joining Impact, to bringing our event Puzzle Project back to a monthly occurrence, and to see the floods of new talent coming through. There has been much discussion about the future of Hard Dance over the past few months, but I'm yet to see any evidence of it slowing down! A great year!
What exciting things do you have planned for next year?
We will be taking Puzzle Project to Ibiza with Heat in June which will be a first for the party, also some new exciting projects on Impact and some fantastic newcomers to be featured too, so keeping the label at the top of its game. Plus there is always going to be a track or two of mine on its way. I've got a tasty track in the pipeline with Jason Cortez, so look forward to getting that rolled out too!
