What's been your biggest achievement of the year?
I've had many good times in 2011 with festivals and shows all over the globe. It's exciting to explore new continents and countries and find out that people know all your tracks. These all-over-the-world fans have surely contributed to my election in DJ Mag Top 100, which was a big moment for me. But the success of 'Lose my Mind' is on top of that all.
What moments will you never forget?
I like to travel around the world. Defqon in Australia was great, as well as Mysteryland in Chile. But I also like the close-shows in smaller venues, where you can still 'touch' your fans, like Seoul, Tallinn, Calgary and also the Dutch venues. It's still amazing to bring joy and pleasure to people with your own music. This brings it also back to the cradle, my studio room. The special moments are in the middle of the night, when you're composing and writing a new track and you know for yourself, this is gonna be a new one, a special one!
Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?
Code Black. I've worked a lot with Australian producers. They work really hard, but Code Black is also a highly talented producer with unique skills
Who's been the artist of the year for you?
I'm listening to a variety of music in my car, when driving to shows. This can be pop music like Adele, or house, techno, trance, dubstep or even Dutch sing-a-longs. To mention a few: Swedish House Maffia, Skrillex, Dash Berlin. To me it's important to be inspired by new music, to create new angles for my own tracks.
What's been your favourite label of the year?
Midify
What do you think has been the best track of the year?
Frontliner- Dream Dust
What's been your favourite event of the year?
I played many great events in 2011, but I was impressed by persistence of the crowd in the rainy summer. During Defqon and Mysteryland it was raining heavily, but they kept on going. Big Up for the crowds! Also Chili has been amazing (I've been there twice in 2011) and Tallinn was absolutely one of the eye-openers during the City2City World Tour.
What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?
A lot of small laughs and pleasures, to hard to explain in a few words. Not funny at all: lost luggage several times on long distance travels...
What do you have planned for the next year?
I'm working on a new album, due to release before summer. Before you can expect the release of the City2City samplers and of course, the official release of Lose my Mind.
