Carl Nicholson - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

I think my biggest acheivement this year would have to be releasing my debut album 'Storybook', its had amazing reviews and major support from many of the big guns including Rob Tissera, Ilogik, Amber D, Jon Bishop & Bexta. I would say following that would be hitting number one album & single on Beatport with 'Ultimate Hard House Anthems' & 'Up 2 No Good' and playing for Insomniacz at Magna.

What moments will you never forget?

I will never forget the moment my TDV megamix was played live to 3000 screaming nutters in the main room of the Magna Steel Works in Rotherham with Tony's dad Ray stood next to me, the look on his face seeing all these kid's 13 years later STILL tearing the floor up to Tony's tunes was something that money just cannot buy.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

Most impressive newcomer would be Criostasis, a very talented producer from Poland, he's been beating up the TiD top 10 all year long and think pretty soon he'll be giving alf a run for his money ;)

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

I would have to say Technikal once more, there's not many people who can push all my buttons, but Alf comes through with flying colours time after time again. Plus i must also mention the creative genius that is Rob O.T.T, the guy has an immensely bright future in this scene and i think we'll be seeing some very big things from him in 2012.

What's been your favourite label of the year?

Label, Hmmmmmmmmm, yes biased once again lol but i must say CN Recordings, we have released some absolutely cracking tracks this year including the 'Storybook' series.

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

Favourite track would be my remix of Tony De Vit - The Dawn (Biased i know lol), which was a very special project for me. Everywhere i have played it, it has torn the roof clean off it's rafters.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Best Event would be Insomniacz @ Magna, Mr Muir know's exactly how to conduct a bad boy shindig ;)

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Funniest thing must have been Hard Dance Ibiza, First night in Ibiza + LOTS of Vodka + Limited Vocabulary = Ending up in a town i have never been to wandering round aimlessly trying to find the hotel that wasnt there.

What do you have planned for the next year?

2012 is looking to be seriously immense, firstly gigs wise i have Twist & Glowball NYDN @ Colliseum, London, then Timeless - The Pirate Party in Feb (My first Frantic Main Room Gig!!! Wooo Hooo :), then Glowball for my birthday at end of Feb, then i will jetting of to New Zealand in March for the Soundscape festival in March, plus also not forgetting a very special vinyl only set at Vinyl Impact in April. Also will be releasing the full 'Storybook' on Riot & mixing the new 'Ultimate Hard Trance Anthems' in Spring. So to say 'It's gonna be hectic' is an understatement, Lucky i absolutely love it really isnt it ;)
