Caz Wood - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

This year has been a good one for me and I have achieved a lot! I think releasing my remix of "Take Me Away" by RT project that I made with Technikal in April has to be my biggest achievement as it got to Number 1 in the Trackitdown charts and was also played on Radio one by Kutski!! I was so happy when this happened! The original tune has always been a favourite of mine, so to remix it and for it to be so successful was a great achievement!

What moments will you never forget?

Playing in Ibiza for the first time, in June was my definite highlight of the year that I will never forget!! I played for Charlyz Angelz, a night run by Vicky Devine! I had an amazing time and can't wait to play out there again this year!

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

Again, a lot of new DJ's have impressed me, across a wide range of styles. Energy Syndicate is coming along leaps and bounds, and with the hard work and effort he puts in its obvious to see why! He is definitely one to keep an eye out for!! ShockForce are also making waves in the scene as well, again hard workers whose efforts aren't going unnoticed!

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

A lot of DJ's have impressed me this year, however one has really stood out and that is Mr Boddy T! Rob Tissera never fails to impress and I am constantly pleasantly surprised by him!! He played an amazing classics set at Frantic 12 last year that was just mind-blowing!! He dropped anthem after anthem!!

What's been your favourite label of the year?

AWsum is growing in strength and with the rise of its bounce, funky and other various label genres it is one that is keeping our scene fresh with releases!

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

A tune that has played a major part in a lot of my sets and will do for a long time is Rob Tissera's re-rub of his classic "Free Falling". From the day I first heard the original of track I have not stopped loving it, and the recent remixes by Technikal, Paul F and MDA & Spherical have really done it justice!

What's been your favourite event of the year?

So many to choose from!! Frantic 12 was a definite highlight for me! But then more recently B2T at Gatecrasher in Birmingham on New Years Day was amazing - the club is immense!!! Contagious's night "28 Raves later" was brilliant too, they always put a lot of effort into their nights, outfits and dancers!!

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Well I don't know if it is funny or not but when I got off the plane from Ibiza this summer my record bag was ripped to shreds!! I was sad enough to leave the White Isle but to find my bag not in the state I left it was amusing! Safe to say I was able to get a brand new bag to replace it!!

What do you have planned for the next year?

I have big plans on the tune release side of things, working with some well known producers!
