What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

A lot happened over the last year with the Radio show and the Gearbox brand in general, but if im honest, the best experiences are always playing live. Playing at the Tiesto gig in Edinburgh for Colours was definitely one of the highlights but definitely the best experience for me was the Gearbox & Change of Scene night with Fausto and Phil York. A lot of hard work went into arranging that gig and it makes the night in general so much better when you know that you are responsible for everyone having such a good time.

What moments will you never forget?

Dropping Andrea Montorsi - Now before Geck-o and DJ Thera took hold of the decks was a pretty sensational moment.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

Hard Trance got to be either Fujin Ku or Lee Mac and in Hardstyle it would be Delete and Vazard.

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

There has been loads of outstanding artists over the past year and I've luckily had the opportunity to have them all on Gearbox. Lee Mac has been one of the outstanding artists for me which I'm delighted about because when his success was just kicking off he was already a resident with the show. Other artists who have been outstanding in hard trance have been Fujin Ku, Diablik, Sa.Vee.Oh, Thilo & Evanti and Activator have all really pushed the scene forward as well I think. In hardstyle I think all the best has been coming from the same two sources I've pushing for a while and that is Therachords and Spoontech. Geck-o and Thera have continued to make original and highly entertaining hardstyle track you can actually dance too, but Delete and Vazard have really done something special with their sound. If there is two stand out kicks that have appeared in 2011 on that hardstyle scene its from Delete and Vazard.

What's been your favourite label of the year?

Anologue Is Dead is yet to produce a poor track. Thilo & Evanti really have come across a perfect sound that I enjoy so much and every one of their remixes has been absolutely sensational. Really nice dark eclectic sound with so much bass that gives the tracks so much presence, especially in the clubs. Really liking everything that is coming from that label.

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

This is a really difficult question. Sa.Vee.Oh - Electro Bass is just so full of sound and power and is fantastic to play out live and Andrea Montorsi - Now is one you can just lose the plot to, but just for the shear talent of writing an incredible melody I'd have to give this accolade to Fujin Ku and his track Red Tape. Never tire of hearing the break down in this tune.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Defqon.1 was pretty spectacular and is the hard dance event that was the best for me, but if I am brutally honest I'd have to say that Rockness proved to be the best festival I've ever been to. I have a real struggle keeping the energy for hard dance events, which is why I've adopted the nickname Billy Bedtime, but techno I could jive to techno for weeks on end.

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Playing the last night of our residency at Cake before it closed down, I got slightly carried away bouncing on a sink behind the decks. Luckily Nicco was playing at the time cause me and the sink hit the deck after I tore it from the wall.

What do you have planned for the next year?

2012 finally see's the start of Gearbox Digital, I am planning to have releases in both hard trance and hardstyle every month of the year so that will be keeping me busy. As for events I am hoping that I can team up with some people down in Glasgow since we saw the demise of the only real club in Inverness.
