Jim Justice - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

I was so thrilled and proud about my defqon 1 booking! I figured that would be the highlight of 2011 for me. But some months later I received a email from Q dance to ask me if I would want to do an opening set at the mainstage of the NYE party called Qountdown. Just did this yesterday and the floor was Jam packed! I had a blast! I consider this to be the highlight of 2011 for sure!

What moments will you never forget?

From the Jim Justice perspective: It was so cool to see that Wrag & Log one and Louk watching my set at Defqon 1 from the back, even cooler when I watched back the vids I saw Louk doing Jumping Jacks on one the tunes I played there. From the personal perspective: on 21-12-2012 I became a father of a beatifull daughter! Best day of my life, no contest.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

That would be DJ W with his dark Hard Trance sounds! 2012 we will here more of him for sure.

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

Always hard to just name one artist here. But I’d say that would be activator with his new subground sound. A new flavour in the Hard Dance scene from a veteran. Brilliant.

What's been your favourite label of the year?

Subground, excessive records, Atmosphere recordings, Digitally infected & Compulzion!

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

Tough one, that would be two tunes that always shook the crowd wherever, whenever: Music is moving - Cortina (Luca antolini & Andrea montorsi rmx) and it’s what we are from Geck-o.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Defqon 1 2012 for sure!

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

When leaving the hotel to head for my gig in Zak Megadisco in Germany I got stuck in the parking garage! The gate only opened halfway! A technician had to come midnight on boxing day, took ages! I almost came in late for the gig but fortunately we arrived just in time. Scary shit. But funny at the same time.

What do you have planned for the next year?

Producing, DJ-ing and changing diapers. In exact opposite order.
