Mike Steventon - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

The chart success and overall support of my releases on K405 have been my biggest achievement’s this year. I think across my releases, remixes and the albums I have been involved with I have had 8 number 1’s across various genre’s on Trackitdown and other sites. The support from many of the scene’s biggest talents has also been great and the plays on Radio 1 and q-dance radio have been nice as well! Also getting the chance to play at Space and Eden Ibiza was a lot of fun. Had some serious nights with the Hindsight & Kitchen Disco crew out there. The K405 tours have been amazing :)

What moments will you never forget?

Some of the back to backs with Side E-Fect have been memorable! Also the back to back power mixing session with Kidd Kaos was fun. The last 10 mins of our set turned into a ‘who can drop the fattest track quickest competition, seeing the crowd go crazy to it was priceless!

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

I’'m not just saying because I'’m bias but it’s gotta be my bro and often partner in crime Side E-Fect. The dark techno sounds backed with the hardest kicks you can find before they get into pure Hardstyle territory are a winner for me ;)

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

Josh Lang has been good also Klonez but the South West UK crew Kidd Kaos, Louk, Busho, Joe E etc are the ones to watch atm....Although I’m really feeling the Australian Hard Dance vibe at the min also, lots of great djs and producers from down under!

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

My sinister remix of Busho ‘It’s Not Over Yet’ has done some serious damage this year! This may sound a little strange but my super splice off Kidd Kaos & Side E-Fect has been my fave this year. I mashed up their ‘I found Music’ track with Side E-Fect’s remix of DJ Husband –Opulance and it works a treat! Other than that Noizy Boiz vs Log One ‘Reaper’ Josh Lang remix.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Be@Space Ibiza

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Landing in Ibiza and somebody thinking I was Luis Hammleton. My friends have joked about me looking like him before but this was one step to far!

What do you have planned for the next year?

Working closely alongside Side E-Fect with dj Sets and possibly developing a live set as well. Also just churning out more hits and trying to push the music forward and into the future. It’s an exciting time for global EDM and I believe Hard Dance is a big part of it!
