Nik Fish - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

In 2009 I was fortunate in many ways. I released a mix album titled BLACK that was 100% Hardstyle tracks and probably the first album of it's kind to be released in Australia by an Australian DJ. It received great reviews in the mainstreem street press and I also toured over 15 cities around the country promoting the release and the sound at the same time. For me it was really important to expose this style of music beyond my normal fanbase so the challenge was to get other people into it, which I beleive I did.

What moments will you never forget?

Besides an awesome album tour, seeing so many places in my great country and meeting so many people was a bonus. Also scoring a set at Q-dance's DEFQON1 Festival in Sydney was a dream come true as they are the biggest party production crew on the planet!

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

I supported Kidd Kaos when he played in Sydney and he was really tight, knew his tracks inside out, mixed really well and was in tune with the crowd

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

There are so many, can I list more than one? Ok Technoboy is a genius producer and Zany is a nutter that makes equally as nutty music!

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Defqon1 Australia

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

As a DJ, having a girl come up to the decks and try to order a drink!

What do you have planned for the next year?

I've got a monthly music show called HARD DRIVE on Slinkyfm, hoping to make some original tracks in the studio and I've been invited to play at a really big event outside of Australia, which I'm not allowed to reveal just yet!
