Proteus - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

The biggest achievement for me on 2009 was to be able to tour three separate times in Australia and to release Hard Dance Icons compilation cd. Big thanx to all in Down Under!:)

What moments will you never forget?

I will never forget all the great gigs I had honor to do this year. I have been really lucky to have chance to play at Global Gathering, Defqon1 Australia, Ground Zero Holland, HHA at Brixton Academy, Westfest, Atomic Weekender, Malaysia and many more... Also I have had chance to make lot of new friends at the tours and see new places!

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

I'm not sure are the guys so much newcomers but I have really enjoyed Log:One & Wragg's production this year and I think they are doing great tracks and remixes.

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

My favorite artist this year has been Mark EG, he is the legend! It was more than great to do b2b set with him at Westfest this year and it was our first b2b in UK. We have done it three times before at the great festival called Ground Zero in Holland.

What's been your favourite label of the year?

My favourite label has been hardcore label Industrial Strenght. Lenny Dee and his army are doing the most darkest hardcore and some of the tracks are very playable at hard dance sets too. Also our FINRG of course!;)

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

My favourite track has been Ultraform - I feel. Ultraform is very talented Swedish producer and he does great mixture of hard bass, industrial and hardtrance on his tracks. Also the most played track at my sets has been my remix from Black Light Discipline - For All You Heavy-hearted. BLD is popular Finnish electro/metal band and it was great to do remix for them.

What's been your favourite event of the year?

The best event this year for me was Defqon1 festival in Australia. Defqon1 was made first time in Australia this year and they had absolutely amazing area for the festival and the weather was great! Very good production!

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Propably it would be the thing that one promoter had to get me out of the venue through fire exit during the night after my gig because there was one lady who was getting bit too excited ha ha ha!! Oh god good things happens sometimes!:)

What do you have planned for the next year?

I will continue touring without any break and finalize my second artist album cd which will be released on next spring before summer. I have been really busy in studio lately and there is still lot of work to do. Also I continue to organize events here in Helsinki Finland and I just did underground warehouse rave which was great! I haven't organized underground parties in many years so it was great to go back to my roots.
