What's been your biggest achievement of the year?
Receiving a sponsorship with Traktor Pro and spending time midi mapping my own personalized controllers for a special setup which debut at the Atomik Weekender. Pretty nervous but it went well and I really enjoyed it!
What moments will you never forget?
Almost missing my flight to a gig in Ireland due to congestion on the motorway. I ended up sprinting to the closing gate with literally a few minutes to spare.
Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?
Chris Comben and his clever productions!
Who's been the artist of the year for you?
That's a really tough one as I've been receiving some really quality music in the last year from everyone. A new face that's really been putting out some unique sounding tracks Chris Comben from Combat Recordings. Really clever and well thought out productions!
What's been your favourite label of the year?
Fireball Recordings fails to disappoint. Even though I hear the tracks day in and day out next door when Mr. Stevens' is blasting them, they still don't get old.
What do you think has been the best track of the year?
I think I have to go with Doof & Ellis - Set It Off. It's so uplifting, catchy and full of power.
What's been your favourite event of the year?
I think I'd have to tip my hat off to Tidy Magna. First time at the Magna center for me and that was really something else! Talk about perfectravevenue.com haha!! Bit chilly though but it doesn't really matter if you're doing the running man!
What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?
Playing my remix of Oasis' wonderwall track and having the CDJ give me an error right at the absolute peak of the buildup! Not really that funny at the time, but I've learnt a valuable lesson about the MK2 versions of the CDJ1000 and making sure the full waveform is loaded before I mess with the hardware haha!
What do you have planned for the next year?
Ben and I have an exclusive Chaos Theory EP coming out on Tidy in January which includes 1 remix, 1 original and 1 cover. We're also mixing the second disc and doing a live mashup that really showcases what our special live sets are all about. I also have an EP on Tidy in March as well with collaborations with Rob Tissera, Sam Townend, Nathalie and possibly one more! I plan on further developing my re:creation setup to include some more gadgets and toys for me to geek out over on stage. Fun times!
