What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?
Richard Toomz - Chorizo (Kaktai) has to be my tip on the best hard dance track for the year. It screams of quality and is also very fun and dance floor friendly. The main melody is very infectious and always goes down well!
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Most definitely becoming Tidy and S62's newest addition to the roster. It's an absolute dream come true and something I thought was previously unattainable due to my location. I recall doing some sort of "happy dance" when I finalized with Tidy and it still feels very surreal.
What moments in the last year will you always remember?
There are a few moments I have on infinite repeat in my head but the one that stands out most to me would be the last minute opportunity to play 2 songs during the "Tidy dirty dozen" in the Queen Vic at Tidy Weekender 12. It was already amazing to be able to play at the weekender but to be given the opportunity to play alongside some of the industries finest in an intimate setting was simply amazing. I guess I did something right too because I made some really big contacts and opened a lot of doors just through those 10 or so minutes on the decks. Other moments like seeing the crowd reaction to "Pistol Packing 2007" at Storm's 7th birthday and TW12 will always put a smile on my face whenever I think about it.
What exciting things do you have planned for next year?
At the end of Feb 2008 I will be making my move over to the UK and to be quite honest, it's one of the scariest decisions I've had to make. As much as I love living in Canada, the music scene is just not large enough for a DJ to really expand their career in the hard dance scene. So I am now in the process of making my way over to the UK permanently to pursue my DJ/Production career. I'm at the stage where I have to do something about this if I want to pursue my dreams.
Along with my move, I have become involved in the record making business with my label entry "Kung Fu Wax". There are some really great tracks lined up for release in 2008 from artists such as Defective Audio, Ben Stevens, Marc Johnson, Dave Curtis and Karl Davis and I'm really looking forward to what the future holds for the label.
