What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?
I'd probably have to say one of my own 'Deeper Down'. I wrote it a few years back and recently gave a copy Mini-Minx who was the first person to play it out. After seeing the reaction it got from the crowd I decided to rework it. The track is so uplifting with a nice melodic riff but as it kicks in after the baseline the tune just switches into some full on Hoovers and then its time for a good old stomp. It wasn't one of my favourite tracks until I saw how much power it had and how quickly it can fill a dance floor. At the same time though I would have to say Andy Farley's 'Feel' I think it's probably one of the ground breaking groovier tune of the year.
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
It's hard to say really because there have been a few this year the first setting up my own label 'Razor Recordings' with a fellow DJ and friend LT1. I've always toyed with the idea of setting up my own label but didn't want to venture into in on my own and after getting to know LT1 he was the perfect person to enter into the project with. In terms of DJing though I'd have to say playing main room at Polysexual & gaining a residency with Sundissential. Sundissential was the club that got me into hard house and it was my goal to play there but then being given a residency it shows the hard work I've put in over the years has paid off, Oh and getting two different tracks signed to two different Tidy albums. The first being mine & Riggsy's remix of Steve Blake's 'Expression' signed to Tidy and their Hard Dance Designer Labels Album. The original is probably one of my favourite ever Hard House Tracks. The second 'Deeper Down' which was signed to Tidy Weekender 12 Live mix by JP & Jukesy.
What moments in the last year will you always remember?
Playing at Sundisential vs Goodgreef big beef reunion in Leeds I will always remember. I Played first set in the round room the main room was already open. When they opened the doors to that room it was empty but within a couple of tracks the place was rammed. It was also one of the first sets that I played most of my own production.
What exciting things do you have planned for next year?
I'll be in the studio a lot more and pushing the label but as well as that we will be launching 'Razor Management' which will concentrate on some of the best up and coming artists on the scene at present, lets just say the next generation of DJs and producers. I'm also looking forward to another residency with the re-launch of Sin:ergy in Manchester. It's good to see more Hard Dance coming back to Manchester.
