Swankie DJ & Kashi - My Year In Hard Dance

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

Having our own vinyl platter, it has to be :) Our track "Evil Neva Dies" was released on Ourstyle Recordings, owned by Cally & Juice, earlier this year ... With vinyl on the fade out, it sure was a pleasure to get this track for the studio wall and Swankie's nans living room hahah Other than that its been a great year for us, havin played some of the best events all over the UK. It's great to see our sound being recognized and also supported all over the UK, by the ravers and by some of the legends in the hard dance scene. That includes Tuneboy, Trance Generators, IG Bounce, Andy Whitby, Cally & Juice, Kutski, Nino Pipito, Express Viviana and Charlotte Birch to name a few .. Massive respect guys and girls for supporting our tracks :)

What moments will you never forget?

Swankie says, Kashi's driving hahahah Has to be Westfest :) Slammin Vinyl hits the nail on the head every year with this event, by far the best event in the UK clubbing calendar. We loved playin there in 2008 and this year was even better.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

There are so many up and coming producers out there who are gettin there sounds heard, especially in UK ... Wouldnt be fair to mention 1 without the other, nice to see the UK Boys gettin out there and providing a part to the growing hard dance scene :)

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

This year it has to be Tuneboy or Showtek as far as production goes :) Both are setting the standard in hardstyle at the moment .... Tuneboy has only just recently hit UK waters playin out his quality sounds, about time he started playing more gigs :) He is also a really nice guy, we were both hammering questions at him and he answered every one ... Legend!!!

What's been your favourite label of the year?

Has to be Future Sound Corp (Trance Generators label) or Dutch Master Works (Showtek's label). Both have been really consistant with providing huge tunes with massive remixes aswell ... Its not often you go out and hear these huge bombs :) Also Bionic Digital will be on form next year with alot tunage in the pipeline, aswell as AWsum Black. Keep and eye out for them next year ;)

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

Probably 1 of our new tracks "Swankie DJ & Kashi Feat The StickMan - Systematic". Just the fact that we had the live drums provided by Alex AKA The StickMan running through logic :) We had a great laugh making the track aswell as this was something different for us and also Alex ... What's been your favourite event of the year?

It has to be Westfest or Planet Love, Both were amazing gigs :) Truly honoured to play at both these event this year. Production on both events were absolutly insane. I mean DJ's had to report to the DJ tent and get transported to the tent they were playin by golf buggies lol. You can imagine what Mr Mark EG was like in the buggy hahahah, good times :)

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

It wasnt funny at the time but Swankie lost his boarding pass to fly back from Northern Ireland earlier this year, after a hectic weekend we were only good for our beds!!! Luckly the staff were able to let him board as he checked up on the computer as already checked in. At 1 point we thought whe was stayin another night in Northern Ireland, scary at the time but funny to look back on :)

What do you have planned for the next year?

Every year things have grown on a massive scale for us, with the diary already having quite few bookings for lined up for 2010. So hopefully things will grow again for us next year. Production is the main thing in our eyes :) Now we have both fully sorted our studio's out with all the latest kit, its double trouble. With both of us workin solid on our own most evenings on tracks, a hook up every weekend gets the final track down. At the moment we have got quite a few tracks to be released in 2010. Alot of new tracks on S&K with some exciting remixes to go with them, from some of the scenes most repected artists. We are also have many new remixes for other labels lined up next year ... 2010 is goin to be a big year of welsh reverse bass!!!
