What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?
I'd really have to say the biggest definition of hard dance for me this year has been 'Supersonic', which MDA, Spherical and I wrote back in July. It was really fresh to approach writing a really fun hard dance record whilst being heavily influenced from many other genres, taking bits of hard house, old school rave, hard trance, psy and even a bit of metal! I think it goes to show how hard dance is so broad sounding nowadays, with many different sub genres - which is very different to how hard dance used to be two or three years ago.
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Receiving second place in best producer & best remixer categories in the Hard Dance Awards and winning best producer & best remixer in the Harderfaster.net awards last year was amazing; it really astounded me at how many people voted. Being featured in the "New School of Bosh" in Mixmag was also pretty wicked achievement. I'd also have to say starting my own label and consistantly topping Trackitdown.net has been a really fantastic ride and will be something to definately try and pull off again next year!
What moments in the last year will you always remember?
It's really hard to pick just a few moments as it's been a real eventful year, but playing in South Africa, Canada, Australia, Norway and Ireland were brilliant experiences and something I'll always remember. The Planetlove festival in Ireland was probably the most electric gig I experienced last year, it was completely insane. That's not something I'd be able to forget in a hurry! I'll also never forget how long it took me, Matt and Mark to make "Supersonic", we almost gave up on it a few times haha!
What exciting things do you have planned for next year?
I'll be releasing my first ever artist album, which is planned to be a 2xCD affair; one being a disc of collaborations with all my most favourite influential artists over the years, and one of pure solo productions. It'll be a mixture of brand new, current, and past classics ... a real insight into the Technikal sound! I've also got international dates lined up in Australia and Canada. And that's not to mention taking Technikal Recordings a lot further and hopefully establishing it into one of the top digital hard dance outlets.
