What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?
It's hard to name just one record that properly encapsulates the true mayhem sound from the past year. On any given night the music policy can fluctuate from Tech Trance and Hard Trance to Hard House and the darkest Hardstyle. After consulting with the Mayhem residents we have come up with the 3-4 tunes that tore the dance floor to shreds time after time: Builder – Her Voice, Luna & Thilo – Existence, DJ Isaac – Waiting For and the anthemic, Zany & DV8 – Nothing Else Matters. This tune, we believe was simply head and shoulders above anything else in 2007.
What has been your biggest achievement of the year?
Without a shadow of a doubt it has to be our 1st Birthday back in September. We flew over Italy's number one Hardstyle DJ, Danielle Mondello and Express Viviana to help us celebrate. With a lot of hard work going into the decor, the club looked amazing and it added an underground, intimate feel to the atmosphere.
What moments in the last year will you always remember?
Too many things have happened over the course of the year to list them all here but the ones that stand out are: K90's return to Mayhem, Andy Jackson & Novacaine's barnstorming Live PA, Kutski gracing the decks not once but twice and of course my first and certainly last ever hard dance set!
What exciting things do you have planned for next year?
We are proud to announce the release of the very first Mayhem EP. This will feature 2 collaborations between Mayhem resident Andy Jackson and Hard Trance supreme Gaz West, and will be released on Dark by Design Recordings at the end of January. The EP will be launched at the first event after Mayhem moves to the last Saturday of every month, check us out on Jan 26th for give a ways and more!
