My Year In Hard Dance

What tune has defined this year in hard dance for you?

Fab question, although tough to choose just one. This past year, Hard Dance has seen a gang of new producers, and bang on it established producers, dish up a whack of killer tracks. The CK candy bowl is full of hard treats and gorgeous stormin' gobstoppers, and it's mostly tunes cut by CyberKitten residents which have defined 2007 for me. Feline rules of play, here's two! Our Filth Queen Lucy Fur teams up with Riggsy to deliver one of the CK anthems of the year, the prodigy inspired dance floor rocker 'Intruder Alert' (Twisted Filth). Residents Steve Gillen and Nasty Neil E go head to head with Tom Parr resulting in the super-charged 'Fightin' Talk' (Delete The Weak).

What has been your biggest achievement of the year?

Hands down, it has to be CyberKitten winning Best Small Club at the Hard Dance Awards. The acknowledgement was brilliant, well earned and deeply satisfying for CK's hard working team and dedicated clubbers. Must say during our campaign, it was fantastic to feel part of a greater community, with many clubs preparing for one grand night to celebrate the scene and sounds we love. The H D A's definitely a vital annual industry event, a great stimulant for action, equally a highlight in the clubbing calendar. And truly, who among us doesn't enjoy a bit of glitz, glamour and healthy competition. Hat's off to Ed Real for waving the Hard flag high and wide - for all UK maddens to enjoy!

What moments in the last year will you always remember?

First up, the H D A rush! Standing backstage with Colin at a packed Brixton Academy, preparing to go out to receive our award from the Tidy Boys. Stepping on stage, seeing our CKers explode with almighty joy and the crowd going ballistic. Our April CyberKitten 'new stars' Tour to Tidy/Extreme Euphoria (Heaven), the djs rocked it proper, the room was rammed to the hilt – fabulous London fun. Touching down on the White Isle in July, popping CyberKitten's Ibiza cherry with megastars Tidy. What a night! The beautiful Es Paradis, awash with a sea of happy hard stompers. Many mad moments at the monthly parties spring to mind, certainly each time one of our own produces a track, gets it signed, cops a great review, and especially when they break it on the dance floor for the first time – feels absolutely wonderful.

What exciting things do you have planned for next year?

I'd love to plant a CK flag on the moon, but to date I have no in-roads to NASA. Seriously though, we're all aflame with the upcoming launch of CyberKitten Digital Recordings in 2008. What better than to work with a slew of highly talented dj/producers, starting with our residents and guest regulars - Lucy Fur, Steve Gillen, Nasty Neil E, Brad Duke, K8-e, Andy Rise, Matt Pickup, Barry Diston, HyperVixen, Dion, Karl Davis, DNG, Kauz n FX, Riggsy, John Vyse. My creative drive is pretty relentless, I'm very passionate about innovation and inspired by originality. The road ahead for CK is very exciting. For the sheer surprise factor it's a case of – watch this space and hold on tight for 2008, it's gonna be one hell of a rockin' joy ride!
